Man uses daughter for money ritual

The 20-year-old suspect confessed to killing his 4-month-old daughter for money ritual. He spoke to newsmen yesterday while being paraded by the Plateau State Police Command, said that he was consulted by a herbalist, now at-large, who told him that if he brings the tongue of his daughter, he could make him rich.

“Last week, I got home and while my wife was preparing supper for the family, I sneaked into the room to commit the atrocity. Just after I had snuffed the life out of her [my daughter], my wife came into the room and saw me cutting off the tongue of my baby.

“My wife screamed and that attracted our villagers who, in turn, handed me over to the police,” said Tagan, who blamed the love of money for his crime.

Also paraded among nine others was one Fongnon who was arrested for killing his two-year-old child in Mangu local government of the state over her constant bed-wetting.

Speaking while parading the criminals, the state the state police commissioner, Chris Olakpe, said that the  lives of policemen are no longer safe, because “whenever an arrest is made and the suspects are handed over to the court for trial, the suspects are granted bail and this same criminals come back to the state to perpetrate crimes , thereby making us targets”.

The command also paraded over 10 recovered vehicles suspected to have been  stolen by car-snatching gang.
