The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2013 as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, who made the declaration on behalf of government in Abuja on Monday, congratulated all Nigerians at home and abroad, and urged them to build a more united and virile nation that would be the pride of all.

Moro enjoined all Nigerians to use the period of the public holiday to reflect on “the giant strides  made by government in the development of the country, especially under the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.”

He wished all Nigerians a happy Independence holiday celebration.
