Kaduna halts State-wide Curfew
« on: August 09, 2012, 03:59:38 PM »
The Kaduna State Government has ended the curfew imposed on the state for more than a month following the June 17 bomb attacks on three churches in Zaria and Kaduna. The bombings led to a reprisal attack that claimed numerous lives causing the government to enforce a 24-hour curfew in the state.

The decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

"The Security Council met today (Wednesday) and, after extensive deliberation, decided to completely remove the curfew hours currently in place, with effect from today."

The government through a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Reuben Buhari said the curfew was stopped due to improved security situation in the state.

Buhari stated that the restriction on movement of motorcycle operators between 6a.m and 9p.m was still effective.

He advised the residents of the state to co-operate with the security personnel to maintain peace and quiet in the state.
