The trial of the former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, alongside seven others facing a 105-count charge that touches on  money laundering to the tune of N5 billion, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was on Thursday, adjourned till March 4, 2014.

The adjournment became imperative sequel to the unavailability of the trial judge, Justice Mohammed Yunusa, who was said to be away on an official assignment.

Those accused alongside the former governor included: Sunday Anyaogu, Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, Hillgate Nigeria Limited, Cosmos FM, Capital City Automobile Nigeria Limited, Renaissance University Teaching Hospital and Mea Mater Elizabeth High School.

The trial judge had granted permission to the former governor to travel abroad to get medical attention. The accused were, on March 7, 2013, re-arraigned consequent upon the transfer of the former trial judge, Justice Charles Archibong.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge, which made Justice Yunusa to  allow them to continue on the bail granted them by Justice Archibong.

The anti-graft agency, also in the charge, alleged that the former governor conspired with others to launder various statutory allocations of some local government areas of Enugu State which included Aninri, Enugu South, Agwu, Igbo Etiti and Isi Uzor.
