FUTA Student to complete Doctoral Programme in American University

The existing collaboration between the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA and the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, FAMU, Tallahassee, Florida has been taken a notch higher with the departure of Mr. Lawal Amadu of the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology for the American University to complete his Doctoral Programme in Forest Genetics.
At a pre- departure ceremony, Professor Adebiyi Daramola, Vice Chancellor of FUTA said the institution has recorded a landmark success in its collaboration with FAMU. He said his administration would not relent in its declared mission to take FUTA to the highest level of academic excellence in the comity of Universities in Nigeria and in Africa as his administration is equally collaborating with some foreign universities to boost learning, research and other academic activities. Professor Daramola charged students and academic staff to be committed to learning and research activities which he described as the mainstay of the University.
Earlier, the team leader of the exchange programme, Professor Ben Adewuyi thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their interest in the exchange programme. He advised Amadu to be a good ambassador of the University saying he should serve as a mentor to those already benefiting from the collaboration.

Amadu joins Oluwalowo Abiodun (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering), Ogundana Ifedayo Joseph (Electrical/Electronic Engineering) and Ebere Onyewuchi Emmanuel (Mechanical Engineering) and Fasakin Tolulope who are already in FAMU to complete their undergraduate and post graduate programmes .

Professor Daramola, the initiator of the collaboration said its primary aim is to develop academic and research cooperative efforts between the two institutions through which staff and students will enjoy opportunities to enhance their teaching, research and learning activities. He said it would also engender exchange programmes on short, medium and long-term basis as a means of promoting scientific and scholarly research output for the benefit of both institutions.
