Organised labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), has said that it is evident that terrorists are taking advantage of the state of the nation’s unpreparedness, weak infrastructure and chaotic lifestyle to unleash mayhem on citizens.

The labour unions said it is clear that the security agencies did not do enough to prevent another attack after the first attack at Nyanya bus stop, in spite of claims by the police after the first blast that they were on top of the situation.

The NLC in a statement by its acting secretary general, Chris Uyot, said it is deeply saddened that the majority of the victims of both bomb attacks at Nyanya were workers.

The statement called for the protection of NLC members at home, at work and on the  road, pointing out that the present attacks on them are direct attacks on productivity and the development of the nation’s economy.

Also, the TUC in a communiqué issued at the end of its national executive council (NEC) meeting decried the state of insecurity in the country. - Leadership news
