At least 21 Palestinians were killed in new Israeli strikes on Gaza late on Saturday, medics in the coastal enclave said.

In Gaza City, 18 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on the Tuffah neighborhood that hit a house and mosque, emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said, making it the single most deadly attack since Israel's assault began.

Another 35 were wounded in the same strike, and three more people were killed in southern Gaza's Rafah that also injured five people, Qidra added.

Among the wounded was police chief Tayseer al-Batsh, officials said.

The strikes came after Hamas launched a barrage of long-range rockets at Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, after issuing a warning that it would strike.

Gaza families plead for evacuation amid battle
« Reply #1 on: July 23, 2014, 11:33:46 AM »
Dozens of Palestinian families trapped by clashes between Hamas militants and Israeli troops are scrambling to flee a southern Gaza Strip neighborhood as Israel reported that two more of its soldiers have died in the conflict.

The Palestinian Red Crescent says it's trying to evacuate about 250 people from near Khan Younis, which has been under Israeli tank shelling and drones strikes since early Wednesday.

As the fighting near Khan Younis rages, the military says two more soldiers have been killed, raising the military's death toll to 29. That doesn't include one Israeli soldier whose remains have not yet been found.
