French airline in Lagos emergency landing

A faulty left hand nose tyre pressure indicator prompted a scheduled Air France flight from Paris to Lagos to declare an emergency on approach to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport,Lagos

General Manager Public Affairs at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Fan Ndubuoke, said the captain of the Air France aircraft with registration number F-GZCC reported an emergency upon approaching the Lagos Airport.

He said that the captain of the aircraft noticed that the left hand nose tyre pressure indicator was on which was an indication of faulty nose wheels.

He said that upon observing the Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs), which is a corollary to safe operation, the pilot declared an emergency.

Ndubuoke said the aircraft, which had a total of 178 souls on board with 168, passengers and ten crew members however landed safely at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

He said that the Captain of the Flight later explained to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) that the nose tyre pressure indicator was faulty hence the wrong signal.
