John Webster is a Queens, New York gym teacher who many describe as “bulky” but that did not stop one of his six year old students from allegedly attacking him. Webster claims that the first grader violently attacked him and “fractured his ankle, injured his knee and forced him to go to a shrink for stress.”
The 6 year old who allegedly attacked Webster was a 50 pound first grader. Webster is a 5-foot-10, 220-pound ex-college running back and he plans to sue the city over his allegations.
Talking to The Post, Webster said, “It’s sort of like an angel-devil sort of thing,” the 5-foot-10, 220-pound ex-college running back told the newspaper. He looks like an angel, but then, all of a sudden, that halo turns into horns. It’s been a nightmare. It’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating.”
The little boy’s parents say that the gym teacher’s accusations do not make sense. The boy’s father, Jorge Carpio, said to The Post, “The lawsuit is totally absurd. How could my little boy do so much damage? My poor son.”
The boy’s mom, Josefa Marcia da Silva, agreed saying, “This is a terrible thing to say [about] a child. To every mother, their child is an angel. I know that he has problems, but he doesn’t deserve to be called such names.”
Webster’s story is supported by an April 26 school “occurrence report” that the school principal filed which says Rodrigo “was physically aggressive” and karate-kicked Webster in the knee and ankle that day.
Webster describes trying to calm the boy down and taking him to the Principal’s office. Says Webster, “I tried to hold his wrists, and he began biting me. I took him to the principal’s office, and he kicked me in the ankle, and one kick landed right on my knee. I felt a pop.’’
The occurrence report also describes the boy kicking and pinching the acting principal and school safety officer. The police were called to the scene and took no action. The boy’s parents turned down an offer to take him to the hospital for an observation.
