Police nab Sudanese over FRSC officials’ killing

Police in Kano have arrested a Sudaneese, Ibrahim Inusa, in connection with the killings of two Road Marshals in Kano last week.

A statement by the Kano Police Command, made available to Vanguard, alleged that the “serial killer” has confessed to the crime and other gruesome killings of security operatives in the ancient city in recent times.

The statement further alleged that Inusa, who the authority was yet to pin to a fixed address, confessed that he, in concert with two others, connived and sent a fake distress call to Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, over a ghastly accident along Madobi road and laid ambush for the Corps Marshal.

According to the statement, Inusa said: “We were waiting patiently for the Road Marshal when suddenly we noticed FRSC operation van rushing down to the fake site and we cut them with volleys of hot leads.”

The police statement said one of the accomplice in the act died of gun shot wound sustained during a combat operation to effect their arrest in there hide-out.

The police said the Sudanese, in a confessional statement, claimed that the attack on FRSC officials was to avenged the “audacity of the Road Marshal, who had arrested and detained their motorbike a couple of days back.”

The statement also revealed that the terror gang led by the Sudanese also confessed to have masterminded the killing of mobile police officers at Gaida, Sheka, Madobi junction and Zoo road.

The statement said that eight other suspects arrested earlier at Dawanu general area in connection with the killings of two policemen escorting a Polio vaccinations team have a case to answer, adding that assault rifles were recovered from them.

The police noted that the suspects have confessed to have participated in series of assault on security operatives in the city, stressing that the command had extended its drag-net to arrest those on the run.
