Shakhtar Donetsk have won their opening 12 games of the season in Ukraine, adding to a run that now stretches to 21 consecutive victories in the Ukranian league.

If Chelsea can make it past the group stages this season it will be the 11th consecutive year they have done so.

Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech (pictured right) had the best saves-to-shots ratio in last season’s competition - an impressive 82.9 per cent.

Chelsea have scored in each of their last 16 Champions League matches - scoring 32 goals in the process.

Wayne Rooney scored his 200th club goal in Manchester United's 4-2 victory over Stoke City on Saturday. Thirty-one of his strikes have come in European competition

Braga achieved their best-ever league finish in the 2009-10 season, when they placed in second in the Portuguese Liga under the management of former Portugal striker Domingos.

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 17 Champions League home games (14 wins, three draws).

They have scored in each of their last 31 home games in the group stages.

Lionel Messi has been the outright top scorer in each of the last four editions of the Champions League: he netted nine goals in 2008-09, eight in 2009-10, 12 in 2010-11 and 14 last season.

Messi has netted 53 goals in the Champions League, only Raul (71) and Ruud Van Nistelrooy (56) have more to their name.

Celtic have won just one of their last 27 away games in Europe (W1 D6 L20) - their 3-2 win over Spartak Moscow in matchday two.

Celtic have failed to score in five of their last nine Champions League matches.

Celtic were left heart-broken as Jordi Alba's injury-time goal gave Barcelona victory in Champions League Group G. Georgios Samaras's header was diverted into his own net by Javier Mascherano to give Celtic the lead. Andres Iniesta's low strike levelled the match before half-time and Lionel Messi was twice denied by instinctive saves by Celtic keeper Fraser Forster. Barca's David Villa struck a shot against the post before Alba converted Adriano Correira's cross late on.

Chelsea's hopes of defending their Champions League crown suffered a setback in Donetsk as Shakhtar dominated a firecracker of a match. On a night when John Terry captained the side, Chelsea were well-beaten thanks to goals from two Brazilians. Alex Teixeira poked home after three minutes before Fernandinho doubled Shakhtar's lead in the second half. Oscar thumped in a late consolation for Chelsea, who would have lost more heavily but for goalkeeper Petr Cech

Javier Hernandez scored twice as Manchester United came back from 2-0 down to beat Braga and maintain their 100% start in Champions League Group H. Alan gave the Portuguese side the lead inside 90 seconds when he headed home Hugo Viana's cross, and added his second after Eder's run and pull-back. But Hernandez replied when he nodded in Shinji Kagawa's cross and Jonny Evans prodded United level from a corner. Hernandez clinched victory with another header, from Tom Cleverley's cross
