The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N5.1 billion for the rehabilitation and re-building of the sections of the United Nations (UN) House in Abuja that was bombed last year. Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, while addressing State House correspondents after the weekly FEC meeting in Abuja, said the contract was awarded in favour of Messrs Julius Berger (Nigeria) Plc with a delivery period of 16 months.

Speaking on the project, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, said the federal government had made a commitment to get the building ready for occupation “soonest.” He said some of the UN agencies were currently occupying rented places following arrangement between the leadership of the UN and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Maku also told journalists that council had approved a draft framework for the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP) from 2014 to 2043, saying that the current infrastructure stock of the country was not sufficient to support Economic Growth Targets of the Vision 20:2020, and the Transformation Agenda of the present administration.
