Microsoft Vs Google: User experience with Desktop and Web

Google says consumers want the desktop to feel more like the web and thats why they have continued the development of the Chrome OS system.

Microsoft on the other hand believes that consumers actually want the web to feel more like a desktop hence the new intro on Windows 8

So maybe we should just ask you consumers what do you want? The Google way or the Microsoft way?
