Baba Suwe Case - Court Hears NDLEA Appeal April 18
« on: February 15, 2013, 11:57:47 PM »
THE Lagos division of the Court of Appeal Friday said it will entertain arguments on an appeal filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) against a judgment ordering it to pay N25 million as damages to Yoruba actor, Mr. Babatunde Omidina, alias Baba Suwe, on April 18.

The lower court headed by Justice Yetunde Idowu, had in a judgment delivered in November 24, 2011, ordered the agency to pay N25 million to the respondent for keeping him in custody beyond the legal time limit on a suspicious case of drug ingestion.

The court also ordered the agency to apologise to the actor publicly in conspicuous pages of two national dailies.

The case, which was scheduled for parties to argue their briefs, could not go on as the court presided over by justice Chima Nweze said that the suit was wrongly listed for motion instead of arguments.

The court in view of the error, therefore, adjourned the case to April 18 for definite hearing. Guardian
