Members of a vigilante group in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and the town where the suspects allegedly operate, had gotten wind of the suspects’ dealings and reported to the police.

When the men attempted to conduct the sale of one of their victims, 14-year-old boy Tchipoto Blachimus, who was kidnapped in Benin Republic, the police swung into action, arrested the suspects and rescued the victim.

The Police Commissioner in Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, confirmed the arrest to PREMIUM TIMES.

Mr. Okoye said investigations are still going on and assured that on completion, the suspects will be charged to court.

In another development, Mr. Okoye said three pipeline vandals were arrested alongside their operational vehicle, a tanker with registration number XD 255 JJT loaded with 25,000 litres of petrol.

The suspects will be prosecuted on completion of investigations.

The commissioner also said a team of policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department,SCID, Abeokuta while on patrol along Ibadan/Lagos Expressway received information that some persons were in the bush at Ajebo road vandalising NNPC/PPMC Pipeline.
