DAARSAT intends to partner with the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation.

DAAR Communications’ pay television, DAARSAT, will dedicate one channel to the broadcast of tourism-related programmes in Nigeria, Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of DAAR Communications, has said.

This is contained in a statement signed by Wilfred Orhue, the Press Officer at the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC, during a visit of DAAR Communications Group, led by Mr. Dokpesi.

The statement said that the aim was to market Nigeria as a major tourism destination with the hope of tapping into its huge tourism potential which is expected to translate into economic gains.

“The re-launch of DAARSAT will ensure the promotion of local content in broadcasting with about 27 channels dedicated to local content, while the entire platform will accommodate up to 250 channels. DAAR Communications is poised to broadcast instructive and educational programmes for all strata of the society as its unique selling point.”

The statement attributed the success of DAARSAT, which was to broadcast on full high definition decoders, to the doggedness and enterprise of its proprietor.

“DAARSAT is bigger and better; wholly the first indigenous communications company to support and promote African cultural contents. It is the first broadcast company in Nigeria to be listed on the Nigerian Stock exchange,” the statement said.
