Volkswagen Golf has won the 2013 World Car of the Year trophy

VW Golf wins 2013 WCOTY in NYC Voted by an international jury of 66 automotive journalists, including yours truly, the new, seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf has won the 2013 World Car of the Year trophy. This is the second consecutive year that Germany’s VW has won the WCOTY title and the fourth time since 2009 with its Up! in 2012, Polo in 2010 and sixth-gen Golf in 2009. For 2013, the VW compact beat out three other finalists: Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact hatch; Porsche Boxster/Cayman sports cars and Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86 sports car triplets. The new Golf, and its GTI and wagon variants, are expected to go on-sale in Canada by mid-2014.
