Tech: Hurricane Florence's winds are starting to hit the North Carolina coast, with 'life-threatening' storm surges and flooding expected

The outer bands of Hurricane Florence, now a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph, are hitting the coast of North Carolina. Over 5 million people are under hurricane warnings as of Thursday morning.
