The Government of Delta State has warned Hausa/Fulani herdsmen, who had been on rampage, in the state, lately, killing and molesting natives, as well as destroying farm crops with their cattle, that their activities were no more acceptable.

Rising from the State Security Council meeting at Oghara, the state government directed that any herdsman who allowed his cattle to destroy farm crops, kill, or cause bodily harm to farmers in the state, would be arrested and expelled.

Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting presided over by the state Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Ovuozorie Macaulay, said the decision was reached because of the increasing act of criminality by herdsmen in the state.

He said that Hausa/Fulani leaders in any community, where such acts were carried out would be made to fish out the culprit.

“The meeting decided to arrest and expel any Hausa/Fulani cattle rearer that allows his cattle to destroy farm crops or kill or cause harm to any farmer in this state. The Hausa/Fulani leaders in such communities will be made to fish out the culprits.”

Macaulay also used the opportunity to inform those clamouring for amnesty that the program was over. He said the amnesty programme of the Federal Government for repentant militants was over, and there was no third phase.
