AS Peter Esele stepped down as the president of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), the labour leader has declared that he wants President Goodluck Jonathan’s job, saying that all he wants as he quits the congress is to become the president of Nigeria.

The TUC held its ninth triennial national delegates conference in Abuja, at the weekend, where over 600 delegates elected Bobboi Bala Kaigama as the new president of the congress.

Kaigama is the national president of the Association of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ASCSN), the largest affiliate of the TUC.

In a chat with the Nigerian Tribune, Esele expressed his desire after six years of struggle and battle with the government, particularly against what he said were anti-people’s policies.

After his experience as a leading labour leader in the country, the former TUC president said the only job he would like to take up now was the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“I want to become the president of Nigeria. If there is one job I will enjoy, it is the president of Nigeria. I know what I can do in that office. I will focus on agriculture, manufacturing and entertainment.

“What I will be looking for is something to take me out of lethargy, what I will be thinking about and won’t be able to sleep at night,” Esele said.

He said governing Nigeria should not be as difficult as people thought, adding that all it took was to look for people of high intellect and sincerity to work for him,
citing the example of the United States of America and the former president of Brazil, Lula Da Silva.
