SunDay SpeakBox - Make your Destiny Happen

Fulfilling destiny is walking according to God’s purpose for your life, and purpose is never about you, it’s always about solving problems for humanity.  The opening scripture captures the story of Gideon at the time when Israel was under the oppression of the Midianites. Gideon, along with many other Israelites, was hiding from the Midianites when an Angel appeared to him, calling him a mighty man of valour and that the Lord was with him. Gideon, taking on the Angel, queried that statement, because if the Lord was indeed with them, why were they so oppressed by the Midianites? The Angel then said, ‘Go in this might of yours and rescue Israel’; yes, since he was so passionate about the plight of his people, then he was the right man for the job.

Gideon didn’t expect that!We are all very much the same, everyone feels it is someone else’s job to effect the change we all desire; or we expect the next person to solve the problem me are passionate about. God uses passionate people. We are supposed to do something about we are passionate about; that is, we must take decisive, definitive steps towards tackling the issues that bother us. Most of us pray and technically hand over responsibility for change at God’s feet, but God expects us to create change because He knows we can! It was He Who created earth and placed humans here, giving them dominion and authority; so, legally speaking in the spiritual world, God will always seek for a man, not a spirit, to solve problems on earth – a ready, willing and able individual.

God is more interested in availability than in ability. God will magnify every step taken in faith. What are you passionate about? Many Nigerians are complacent and comfortable with mediocrity and hardship; therefore quality of life continues to depreciate. To effect change, we must make ourselves available for God to use. Nigerians are acting like the Israelites when they were in bondage in Egypt; they preferred to continue in slavery so long as they had food to eat. But Moses was different, he couldn’t tolerate slavery, little wonder God chose him to lead His people out of the land of bondage. Jesus is our ultimate example; He was so passionate about solving mankind’s problem that He laid down His life. He has left an indelible mark in the world’s history.

Nigeria presents one of the greatest opportunities to make a mark, so, fellow Nigerians, let’s start where we are, with what we have, do what we can and trust God with the rest.
