Okotie for 2015? as Court voids de-registration of Okotie’s party

THE Federal High Court, Abuja Division, Monday nullified the purported de-registration of Fresh Democratic Party (FDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as “unlawful and unconstitutional.”

  In his verdict on the action filed by FDP challenging INEC’s letter of December 6, 2012, which conveyed its decision to de-register it, Justice Gabriel Kolawole declared the action “unlawful.”

  The court also declared as “invalid, unconstitutional, null and void” the provision of Section 78 (7) (ii) of the Electoral Act 2010, which empowers INEC “to de-register political parties for failure to win presidential or governorship election or a seat in the National Assembly or State House of Assembly.”

  However, the judge dismissed the suit seeking to restrain INEC from de-registering the NCP or any other political party, describing it as lacking in merit, and awarded N15,000 damages against NCP.

So does this mean Okotie is coming out in 2015?
