« on: August 02, 2013, 09:47:04 AM »
Residents of Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial hub was thrown into confusion on Thursday following the discovery of three human heads in a hotel in the city.

A team of the Special Ant-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the state police command made the sordid discovery in a popular hotel in the area, known as Upper Class Hotel,   located at the bank of the River Niger near the popular Ose-Okwodu market.

The policemen stormed the hotel in the early hours of Thursday, following a tip-off and   discovered three fresh human heads suspected to be body parts of two females and a male, two military AK47 rifles and two magazines in one of the rooms in the hotel.

The police team consequently arrested 11 persons in the hotel, including the owner of the hotel whose name was given as Bonaventure Mokwe (popular as Obiridike-akanani).

A police source who pleaded anonymity disclosed to LEADERSHIP  that during the operation which lasted for  several hours, the police team led by a senior police officer attached to the IGP Monitoring Unit cordoned off the hotel after several intelligence reports that human meat was being served to guests in the said hotel.

He revealed that when the police got access to the hotel, they made a startling discovery of two decomposing human heads wrapped in a cellophane bag, two military AK47 rifles, two army caps, 40 rounds of live ammunition and so many cell phones.

Mrs. Nkiru Mokwe, the wife of the owner of Upper Class Hotel, Onitsha, where human heads were recovered by security agents on Thursday has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President David Mark to save the life of her husband.

She insisted that her husband, Bonaventure Mokwe, was set up.

Bonaventure was arrested along with 10 other people in connection with the recovery of the two human heads in the hotel.

The hotel was on Friday demolished on the orders of Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State.

Nkiru said the life of her husband was in danger and urged the President and the Senate President to come to their rescue before it was too late.

Nkiru, a lawyer, who spoke to reporters in Onitsha on Saturday, said the whole story was a set up, adding that her husband’s enemies were in a hurry to destroy him and his business.

“My husband is being detained in a very dehumanising condition at SARS, Awkuzu, and the police have denied him access to his lawyer and relations.
