Foreign News / Soldier hacked to death and beheaded in Suspected London Terrorist Attack-VIDEO

Two attackers savagely killed a man believed to be a British soldier just outside an army barracks in an apparent terrorist attack in southeast London today, telling eyewitnesses the killing was "as an eye for an eye ... because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day."
British Prime Minister David Cameron said there were "strong indications this is a terrorist incident," and senior British officials convened an emergency meeting in Britain's equivalent to the White House Situation Room.
The two attackers hacked the victim to death in broad daylight with large knives in the London neighborhood of Woolwich.
Afterward, they approached eyewitnesses, asking them to start filming with their camera phones. One of the attackers, who spoke with a southern London accent, carried a meat cleaver and his hands were deeply stained with blood as we spoke directly to the camera.
"We swear by almighty Allah, we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone, your people will never be safe," the man said calmly, according to ITV News, which obtained the video.
Just a few minutes later, armed police arrived. The two men rushed the police, according to eyewitnesses, and police opened fire, wounding both of them.
The attackers "went for the police with the machetes, knife and handgun," one eyewitness told the BBC. "I don't think they cared."
The attack echoed a plot from 2008, when a British man pleaded guilty to plotting to kidnap and behead a British soldier. Police believe it was an isolated incident, but the emergency cabinet meeting ordered security to be tightened around the area of the attack, and at other military barracks in London, according to the BBC.
Cameron cut short a visit to France and called the attack "absolutely sickening" and a "most appalling crime."
"People across Britain, people in every community, I believe, will condemn this attack," he said at a news conference in Paris. "We have had these sorts of attacks before in our country and we never buckle in the face of them."
Numerous eyewitnesses emphasized the brutality of the attack.
"These two guys were crazed. They were not there. They were just animals," a man who identified himself as James told local radio station LBC. "They then dragged him from the pavement and dumped his body in the middle of the road."

« Last post by clowntom on Yesterday at 10:52:24 PM »The Senate President, David Mark has called on Northern state governments to ban the Almajiri system in their states. Senator Mark made this call during the consideration of “A Bill for an Act to Repeal and Re-Enact the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Act 2003″ by the senate on Wednesday.
The Senate President, who insisted that the practice is not an Islamic injunction, said politicians from the north have failed over the years to condemn the Almajiri system for political reasons. He insisted that the system has become a training ground for miscreants.
He said the system is counter-productive and called on governors from the north to follow the example already laid by the governor of Kano State who has reportedly banned the system.
He said people now do bizarre things in the name of unemployment.
Senator Mark said: “If you cannot get employment you will go and join a terrorist group so that you can be employed. You join Boko Haram so that you can be employed.
“If you are poor then you begin to trade and traffic in human beings so that you can be rich. These are just never excuses.
“What of the people who are also buying these people outside? Is it because they cannot find employment or because they are poor?”
He added: “We must agree that politicians in the north have failed over the years to stem the Almajiri system.
“In fact, if anything else, it would appear that they have encouraged it for political reasons or they have been scared of making a comment on it and I think it is a unique opportunity for governors in the northern region to ban the Almajiri system today because they need to and it is a system that is counter –productive to the growth and development of the country.” =http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/05/22/senate-president-urges-northern-governors-to-ban-almajiri-system/Channels

Politics/Corruption/Terrorism / Man jailed 12 years for killing friend that slept with his wife
« Last post by Lulu on Yesterday at 10:09:23 PM »A 47-year-old security guard, Usman Ibrahim, was on Tuesday sentenced by an Ikeja High Court to 12 years imprisonment, for killing his friend, Ahmed Aminu, on 14 February 2007.
Justice Lateefat Okunnu found the culprit guilty of an offence of involuntary manslaughter.
The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had charged Ibrahim to court on a one-count charge of murder.
The prosecutor, Mrs Mosunola Balogun, told the court that Ibrahim killed Aminu after he found out that the deceased was having an affair with his wife, Anna.
Balogun said the incident occurred at No. C-14 Amuwo Odofin Street, Lagos.
“Ibrahim was informed that Aminu was having an affair with his wife and in an effort to uncover the truth, Ibrahim started monitoring her movement
“On the night of Feb. 14, 2007, Ibrahim closed early from work, went home and hid himself in the kitchen. At around midnight, Aminu knocked on the window and his wife admitted him into the apartment.”
The prosecution said Ibrahim came out of hiding and stabbed his friend with a dagger which led to his death.
In his testimony, Ibrahim told the court that Aminu was armed with a knife and had threatened to kill him on the day of the incident.
He said that it was when they were dragging the knife and dagger that he discovered that he had killed his friend.
Delivering her judgment, the judge held that the prosecution failed to prove the charge of murder against Ibrahim beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Okunnu said the evidence before the court was not sufficient to warrant a murder charge which attracts death penalty.
She therefore, convicted Ibrahim of the lesser offence of involuntary manslaughter.

General News / Tokunbo clothes trader on trial for killing her customer over N100
« Last post by olaniyi on Yesterday at 09:29:53 PM »Antonia Afolabi, a 25-year-old woman was yesterday arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing a man over N100.
Godwin Anyanwu, the prosecuting Inspector said the offence was committed on January 14 at BoundaryMarket, Ajegunle around 8pm.
He reportedly said Afolabi, who sells second-hand clothes, conspired with another person whose whereabouts are unknown, to kill Emeka Ibekwe.
“The deceased bought two T-shirts from the defendant and when one of the shirts did not size him, he returned it. Instead of refunding his money, the defendant asked him to go and come back for another T-shirt but this did not go down well with the deceased. Disagreeing with the defendant’s offer, the deceased decided to take a short instead but Mrs. Afolabi insisted that the deceased must give her N100 to take the short,” Anyanwu said.
“The duo started arguing over the N100 and a struggle ensued. The defendant at this point, called her relations who were in the market and they gathered to beat up the deceased. One of her relations, at large picked a plank and hit the deceased on his head, leading to his death,” he added.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 231 and 221 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2011.
The Magistrate M. A. Ladipo ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison, adding that the case file should be duplicated to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
