SPECIFYING YOUR GOALS
Having taking a stroll on defining some of your goals. Let’s take a look at some typical life time goals you might set for yourself.
Tyler G. Hicks divided lifetime goals into three categories.
1. Professional
2. Public
3. Personal
PROFESSIONAL GOALS
Basically, the most important professional goal you could choose is that of making a useful contribution to your field. Contribution towards your skill, gifts and talents direction.
Thereby, you might;
1. Want to develop a new or improved technique for manufacturing, operation, analysis, processing e.t.c in your field.
2. Investigate and state a new theory in your area of technology, science. In general: your field.
3. Want to prefer a written standard that can be adopted to help make practices more uniform in a given area of technology.
4. Want to spread news of your field by preparing and circulating publicity, information on various levels for the public, your friends or colleges.
5. Want to educate people about your field by giving courses, speaking at school and colleges, seminars and more.
6. Write about your field (aspects) in good forms in suitable publications.
By achieving some or all of these goals, it can lead you to other accomplishments like greater prestige for you I your filed and organization more satisfaction from your work and profession, growth of your professional knowledge and skill. Greater earnings, more leisure, increased responsibility and freedom of action.
As much as we will desire good earnings, greater freedom and all. It is not until we recognize that these are best attained by making a genuine contribution that we truly begin to move ahead in our profession and life.
