Man, 34, In Police Net Over Missing Cousin

A 34- year-old man, Nonso Ekpunobi, from Orifite community, Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state is currently undergoing interrogation by men of Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia State of the Nigeria Police over the whereabouts of his cousin.

Obinna Etoniru, aged 29, was said to have gone missing over two months ago after he went out with Nonso.

Nonso was said to have came to Obinna’s house at about 9am on July 18, 2013, and requested Obinna to accompany him to the Oraifite Civic Centre, an invitation the latter was said to have accepted.

According to Nancy, Obinna’s elder sister, the brotherly outing was later to turn into a nightmare when neither Obinna nor Nonso came back to the house.

She said they had no reason suspect Nonso when he requested that Obinna should accompany him to a deliver a message at the civic centre because they were second cousins but that after days passed and both of them did not show up again, they reported to the police, particularly they started hearing rumours that Nonso actually took Obinna away with some sinister motives.

Nonso was said to have relocated to Lagos after he went out with Obinna without leaving any word concerning Obinna’s whereabouts.

Luck, however, ran out on Nonso few days ago when he was arrested by a team of police detectives from the Police Zone 9, Umuahia, led by one Mr. Ise, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Though the public relations officer of the Anambra state police command, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, told LEADERSHIP that he had not “been officially briefed about the incident,” ASP Ise when contacted on his mobile phone requested this reporter to come to the police Zone 9 headquarters, Umuahia to get details of the incident.
