« on: September 20, 2013, 09:51:11 AM »
THE Federal Government may be compelled to declare a state of emergency in Nasarawa State over the unabating violent killings  and clashes between the Ombatse militia group of Eggon and the Alago ethnic group.

Stakeholders in the state were said to have commenced moves aimed at ensuring that the president decisively deals with the state through a state of emergence.

Sources close to the workings within the state said that some members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and some members of the National Assembly from the state are working in tandem on how to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan declares a state of emergency in the event that the spate of violence does not abate.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Senate Services, Senator Suleiman Adokwe, who represents  Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the upper champer disclosed on Thursday that moves were already on to ensure that a state of emergency was imposed.

He narrated how the renewed fighting had paralysed activities in the state on Monday, adding that soldiers had to be drafted from Benue and Plateau States to Lafia, the state capital.
