Weeks after former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu had a surgical operation on his knee, his media office had on Sunday confirmed he was getting back his fitness.

The office had on August 6 in a statement explained why the co-founder of the All Progressives Congress had been away from the public domain lately.

“Based on previous sports injury on one of his knees and recent further aggravation on the knee from rigorous political and family related activities, he has been advised by his Doctors, despite his persistent reluctance, that orthopaedic surgery is necessary at this time” the statement said.

“The week of the 5th of August has been slated for the surgery and Tinubu is expected to resume his normal political activities and public engagements following clearance from his Doctors.” - DailyPost

Nigeria’s opposition leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arrived Nigeria on Saturday after a successful knee surgery in the United States, saying he is strong and fit.

He also jokingly challenged any journalist to compete with him on a 2.5 kilometre race.“I’m very fit to do whatever I need to do,” Tinubu told aphalanx of journalists.“Any of you cannot compete with me on a 2.5 kilometre race now. If you want, let’s start now.” Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their prayers and said he was very happy to be back. ”I thank God I’m back. I thank Nigerians for their prayers,” he said.

Tinubu dismissed reports that he was unable to walk by demonstrating. ”This is my leg,” he said, pulling his sokoto up a little to show the leg.

After the briefing, he paid a visit to survivors of the Associated plane crash and comforted them. He lambasted aviation authorities saying Nigeria’s aviation industry was in shambles. Tinubu was received by the his wife, Senator Oluremi, as well as Governors of Ekiti and Osun States, Kayode Fayemi and Rauf Aregbesola. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=125309
