In order to ensure an accident free Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Federal Road Safety Commission has started special patrol in the South West to curb over speeding and dangerous driving.

The South West Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Lukas Kinya, who led other top officials of the commission at the commencement of the special patrol in Ile Ife on Friday warned motorists against over-speeding.

Kinya said that the FRSC had deployed its officials on the road to ensure that motorists obey all the traffic laws.

The zonal commander also warned against drunk driving saying anybody caught would be made to face the law.

He said, “ We have observed that most accidents are caused by over speeding that is why we have deployed our officials on the roads to ensure that motorists comply with  speed limit.

“We must all  do what is necessary and avoid those things which could cause accident.  Don’t use your phone while driving, it is a serious offence and any driver caught will be made to face the law.”

The commander also advised passengers to ensure that any driver who would drive them was not under the influence of alcohol. He added  that the war against road  crashes  and loss of lives on highways could not be tackled through traffic laws alone, motorists and passengers also must also join in the campaign to ensure accident free Sallah and beyond.
