PDP NWC nullifies suspension of party’s BoT chair, Wabara

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, has nullified the suspension of Adolphus Wabara as
Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

 

Recall that the Abia State Working Committee, SWC, of the
party on Tuesday suspended Wabara.

 

Similarly, a pro-group of the party, Frontiers for Change
and Progress, has dismissed the suspension of Wabara by Abia State PDP
Chairman, describing the suspension as a big joke.

 

The group also announced the expulsion of Abia State
Chairman of PDP, Abraham Amah over alleged impersonation.

 

According to a statement by the party’s National Publicity
Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the purported suspension violated the PDP
Constitution (as amended in 2017) and did not follow due process.

 

Ologunagba described the action as reckless and
unconstitutional, after the Abia state chapter of the party suspended Wabara
for endorsing Governor Alex Otti for a second tenure barely five months into the
governor’s administration in October 2023.

 

“The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the purported suspension
of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our great Party, Distinguished
Senator Adolphus Wabara from the Party.

 

“The NWC categorically dismisses the purported suspension as
null and void and of no effect whatsoever not being consistent with the
provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and laid down
Rules of our great Party.

 

“For emphasis no State Working Committee has the power to
suspend or take any disciplinary action against a member of the National
Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party without due recourse to the NWC as
clearly provided under Section 57 (7) of the Constitution of the PDP (as
amended in 2017),” Ologunagba said.
