Nasarawa Deputy Governor Quits APC

The lingering controversy surrounding the defection of the Nasarawa State deputy governor, Dameshi Barau Luka, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has finally been put to rest as Luka yesterday officially submitted his letter of withdrawal from the APC to the party state secretariat in Lafia, the state  capital.

The director of press to the deputy governor, Danjuma Joseph, who confirmed the development to LEADERSHIP in Lafia, said his boss submitted the letter yesterday at about 11am to the state party office and is scheduled to brief the press on the next move today.

He said, “My principal has officially presented his letter of resignation to the APC and he will brief the press tomorrow.”

Also, the state interim management committee chairman of the APC, Arch. Stanley Buba, confirmed the receipt of the letter and said the party was accepting the development in good faith and wish him well in his future endeavours.

He said, “The deputy governor has been on suspension before now. I don’t know whether he quit the party because of the suspension, but all the same we wish him well in his future endevours.”

The deputy governor was suspended about a month ago while he was in the United States after he criticised the position of the national secretariat of APC for calling on its members in the National Assembly to frustrate all executive bills.
