Despite this, lawmakers hailed the successful release of the remaining victims as a remarkable achievement that restored hope among Nigerians.Bamidele described the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers as “a disturbing expansion of organised criminal activities into the South-West” and “a direct attack on the right of every child to be educated in a safe and secure environment.” He praised President Bola Tinubu for his “decisive leadership and strategic direction” in ordering the deployment of military assets to secure the victims’ release.The Senate commended the bravery of the fallen heroes and urged the Federal Government to promptly pay death benefits, insurance claims, pensions, and other entitlements to their families. Lawmakers also called for intensified military operations against terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits, backed by modern equipment, advanced surveillance technology, and improved welfare for personnel.Senator Fatai Buhari, who seconded the motion, described the abduction day as a “Black Friday” for his district. He recounted visiting the rescued pupils and teachers at the hospital, noting their rapid recovery after enduring weeks of captivity.In its resolutions, the Senate urged Nigerians to support security agencies with timely intelligence and cooperation, stressing that national unity and vigilance are vital in defeating criminal networks.
