EFCC to Prosecute Lawyers Charging Clients in Foreign Currencies

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it will prosecute lawyers found charging their clients in foreign currencies.Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, ACE I Bawa Usman Kaltungo, issued the warning on Friday, September 11, 2026, while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Task Force on Illegal Practice of Law.The group, led by Moshood Abiola, paid a courtesy visit to Kaltungo’s office in Lagos.During the meeting, Kaltungo raised concerns about lawyers involved in what he described as illegal and unethical practices.“The Commission would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found culpable,” he stated.
