Don’t Obey SURE-P Task Force On Lagos Road, Fashola Tells Lagosians

As Lagosians ponder the sudden takeover of Lagos roads by the officials of SURE-P task force, Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola yesterday charged Lagosians to resist the officers.

Fashola who spoke at the 5th anniversary of Uniformed Voluntary Clubs held at the Police College, Lagos, described the task force set up by the federal government few months to general elections as illegal.

He said: “The SURE-P task force has no right to manage traffic on Lagos roads. The only agency authorised to manage traffic in Lagos on the federal roads is Lagos State Traffic Management Authourity (LASTMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and citizens should just resist them and refuse to cooperate with them.”

Fashola said money recouped from the removal of subsidy and channeled into SURE-P ought to have been invested on dilapidated federal roads in Lagos, especial the Oshodi/Apapa Expressway.

The governor pointed out that investment in the taskforce was a negation of the promise made by President Goodluck Jonathan that subsidy money would be used to improve the lives of Nigerians.
