NHIS says "We have enrolled 7.2 million Nigerians"

The management of the National Health Insurance Scheme has said that no fewer than 7.2 million Nigerians have enrolled under the scheme.

The NHIS Executive Secretary, Dr. Femi Thomas, made this known in Abuja as the organisation marked its first anniversary.

He noted that many Nigerians had keyed into the initiative with the number of enrolees increasing from two million in 2006 to seven million in the last one year.

Thomas also stated that the scheme had unveiled the National Mobile Health Insurance Programme, an initiative aimed at increasing health insurance penetration in the country to 20 million Nigerians.
