Borno state governor Kashim Shettima was whiskers from death on Monday after Nigerian solider opened fire on him.

Shettima’s convoy was reportedly approaching a military garrison to  visit soldiers, who were wounded in the simultaneous Boko Haram attacks on Maiduguri, Monguno and Kodunga, and were fired at.

According to security sources, the identity of the convoy was not known as Governor did not not notify military sources about his intended visit.
