well from what i understand right now, i think they should handle this bokoharam issue on time before it begins to spread.
but also come to think of it, there cant be a war without a reason. and from what i have got to understand, this bokoharam people are in a way fighting for their rights, more like revolution against their leaders. we all know that when it comes to the  Hausa's the wealth in their region is only shared among a few, and the rest are left there to suffer. they are trying to ring a bell in the ears of their leaders.
i am not saying i am in support of their actions, people dont need to suffer because of their cause, and to me there are going about it the wrong way.
