Super Falcons beat Ethiopia 3-0 to move close to second round
« on: November 02, 2012, 07:09:29 pm »
The Super Falcons on Thursday in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, defeated Ethiopia 3-0 in its second group game at the 2012 AWC 3-0 to all but pick a semifinal ticket in the competition.

The Falcons now have six points from two matches with a game to go, and needs only a draw in the last game against Cote d’Ivoire to qualify for the second round. Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroun have three points each from the same number of games, and one of them, likely to be Cameroun, will join Nigeria in the second round after the last group games.

Cameroun defeated Cote d’Ivoire 4-1 in the other group game played on Thursday.

Although the Falcons recorded a huge scoreline, the result did the Ethiopians no justice as they had more grip on the ball than their more illustrious opponents. It took Nigeria more than an hour of action before it could put the game beyond the less fancied opponent.
