Trader Admits Beating His Wife For Alleged Cheating

A trader, Henry Osazuwa,  on Monday told an Ikorodu Customary Court that he beats his wife because she cheats and had no regards for him.

Osazuwa, 47, who resides at 2,Isiaka Street, Asolo, Ikorodu, Lagos, was testifying in a divorce suit, filed by his wife, Naurette.

The respondent, a father of two children, also told the court that his wife uses her buttocks to attract men when she wears trousers.

``Whenever my wife wears trousers, she shakes her buttocks in front of the dressing mirror so I stopped her from wearing it.

``I followed her to the market one day and I saw her being cuddled by different men.

``There has never been anytime that she introduces me to any of her male friends, I don't want this marriage to be separate for the sake of our children,’’ he said.

The petitioner, Naurette had told the court that her husband batters her constantly and disgraces her in public places.

``My husband is very troublesome, he never trusts me. Anytime he sees a man with me he believes I am sleeping with them.

``We had misunderstanding but his family did not want to settle the matter, they only told me to take an oath which I refused.

``He had seized my phone and had once torn my cloth in an open place. Please separate us. I am no more interested in the marriage," the 30-year-old mother pleaded with the court.

The court President, Mr Emmanuel Daniel, adjourned the case to March 21, for possible reconciliation and told them to wait for counselling.
