Nigerians in Diaspora (US) plans World Conference on Investing in Nigeria

Towards realising the country’s goal of becoming one of the world’s largest economies by the year 2020, Nigerians in the Diaspora, under the aegis of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Washington DC chapter have concluded arrangements to host a world conference aimed at attracting more American investors to Nigeria.

The organisers, in a statement, said that the world conference would create an environment in which investors will have opportunities to target the needs of each specific government and businesses from Nigeria; and tailor investment instruments to meet such needs.

They said that the Conference which has its Theme as: US/Nigeria Business, Trade and Investment: Linking US Foreign Direct Investors with Nigerian Businesses/Government will hold on August 24 and 25, 2012 at The Wardman Park Marriott Washington DC, USA.

“Thus, this event is designed to assist Nigeria to create jobs for young graduates and its citizens in today’s global economy and the strategies to deal with the challenges of growing sustainable development in today’s economy,” part of the statement read.

They noted that Nigeria’s population is large, young, energetic and mobile. Therefore, the country’s economy is poised for a huge and spectacular growth now.

The organisers said that the conference is also aimed at identifying with the country’s aspirations to secure sustainable growth and development in the 21st Century.
