Police parades 60-year old man who allegedly raped 12-year old girl

A 60-year old man, Mukadam Azeez, has been arrested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for defiling a 12-year old girl.

According to the state’s police spokesperson, Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor, a deputy superintendent of police, one Esther Olalekan of Agbongbon area of the city reported that her daughter, (name withheld) was defiled by the accused person.

Mr. Azeez, who lived in the same house with his victim, was said to have committed the crime on April 2 at about 6 p.m.

Clet-Ilobanafor added that medical examinations carried out on the victim revealed that penetration actually took place.

The police spokesperson added that when interrogated, the accused person confessed to the crime.

The case, she said, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for appropriate actions.

Rape is becoming rampant in Nigeria.

On March 25, the police in Ogun State paraded a 40-year old man, Lekan Saibu, who allegedly paid two men the sum of N80,000 to rape his two sisters over tussle of their late parent’s inheritance.

In the same Ogun State an interpreter with the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abeokuta, identified as Akin Adewale, was arrested on February 21 for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
