Police arrest 3 over vandalising of telecom masts, stealing of batteries

Police in Enugu state have arrested three suspected vandals of telecom mast facilities.

The suspected armed vandals, who specialize in stealing service providers’ mast batteries from where they are installed, were arrested by the Oji River Division of the Nigeria police.

It was gathered that following the arrest of one of the suspects, identified as Onyeka Olisa at Amaetiti in Oji River where he had allegedly gone to vandalize and steal mast battery, clues leading to the arrest of other partners in the crime were gotten.
 
Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, police spokesman in the state, said further combing of the bush by the police assisted by the neighborhood watch group of the area led to the arrest of one Chigozie Nnaechetam and Emeka Okoye.

He added that twelve MTN mast batteries were recovered from them. “Suspects are now helping police in their investigation”, Amaraizu said, stressing that the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar had warned criminals to leave the state or face the wrath of the Force.
