Police Nabs Brother who killed Mother and Sisters over Fathers Inheritance

A 25- year-old man, Kamar Yusuf, who killed his mother and siblings in Sabon Gusau, Zamfara State last week has been arrested by the Kaduna Police Command, and is now being interrogated by police detectives.

Kamar, who was arrested in Kaduna yesterday following a tipoff, was said to have committed the dastardly act last Wednesday at their family residence at Daladala area of Sabon Gusau of Zamfara State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that Kamar was aggrieved by the sharing of his father’s inheritance among his mother and siblings; he had wanted to have all that the father left behind all to himself.

Investigation revealed that he had threatened severally to kill his mother, Mrs Hafsat and actually made several attempts on her life but failed until that fateful day when he eventually killed her and his other siblings.

According to a relative of the deceased, before the tragedy, Kamar had threatened that he would kill her with his own hands.

Hafsat was scared and had to call the attention of her relatives. She had told her relatives that if anything happened to her, her son, Kamar, should be held responsible because he had been threatening her.

At a point, she even had to report Kamar to the police who advised her to hire a bodyguard to ensure her safety.

On that fateful day, however, Kamar had a heated argument with his mother over some amount of money that had been given to her as part of the inheritance.

At nightfall, at about 8pm, he climbed through the ceiling to enter his sisters’ room, killed and wrapped them with a bed cover and then moved to the mother’s room and strangled her before cutting her body.

After killing his mother and two sisters, he carried their bodies in the family mini-bus and dumped them into a dam.

Security operatives later discovered the body of the mother that night, but the two bodies of the sisters were discovered only a day after.

Kamar was reported to have taken his mother’s car and the documents of the house and left for Kaduna.

Luck, however, ran out on him, when he got to NDA Bus-top and the fuel of the car was exhausted.

Since it was late, and he had no fuel in the car, he decided to pass the night in the car.

He woke up the following morning only to find his step-brother by the car.

The brother then raised the alarm and he was arrested and detained at Kawo police station in Kaduna.

LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that Kamar is a school dropout who had been arrested several times for theft and other crimes.

At the time of filing this report yesterday, Kamar had been taken back to Zamfara by the police for further investigation.
