Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has fulfilled a pledge of N8.9m ($25000) to the Super Eagles of Nigerian for their goal in the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). 

               
           
               
                   

Otedola had met the Super Eagles during AFCON 2019 and before their semi-final clash against Algeria and pledged $25000 for every goal Super Eagles goal in the game.

               
           
               
                   

The Super Eagles went on to score one goal against Algeria courtesy of a second-half penalty by Odion Ighalo but also lost 2-1 to Algeria in that game.

The Nigerian businessman on Tuesday, July 30 hosted Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo and some backroom staff in his office and presented the cheque to them. 

               
           
               
                   

“On behalf of the super eagles I want to say thank you @femiotedola for receiving us today and redeeming your pledge,” Omeruo said in a social media post. 

               
           
               
                   

“Integrity is keeping your word. I redeemed my pledge of $25000 per goal to representatives of the Super Eagles,” Otedola also said in a social media post. 

               
           
               
                   

                 

               

               
           
               
                   

The Super Eagles lost out in that semifinal clash to eventual champions Algeria courtesy of a late freekick from Riyad Mahrez. 

               
           
               
                   

                                   

Super Eagles of Nigeria won the bronze medal at AFCON 2019 (CAF)

               

               
           
               
                   

They went on to beat Tunisia in the third-place game 1-0 to win bronze medal of AFCON 2019.
