Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has bid his farewell to Turkish club Galatasaray as he is set to return to his parent club Monaco.

               
           
               
                   

Onyekuru returned to Galatasaray in January 2020 on loan from Monaco but he won’t be able to finish the season with the Turkish giants.

               
           
               
                   

Galatasaray wanted to keep the Nigeria international until the end of the season which has been stretched due to the coronavirus pandemic.

               
           
               
                   

But according to Galatasaray, negotiations with Monaco to extend Onyekuru’s loan deal did not have a positive result.

               
           
               
                   

Onyekuru said his goodbyes to his teammates in training on Saturday, July 4 and later put out a statement on social media.

“I can’t thank @galatasaray enough for the love during my second spell at the club. What makes this difficult is that I couldn’t experience my final days with the supporters who have shown me so much love and made me feel at home since the first time I came here,” the 23-year-old forward said.

Onyekuru first spent the 2018/2019 season with Galatasaray on loan from Everton before he joined Monaco permanently in the summer of 2019.

He didn’t get any game time in France and returned to Galatasaray on loan in January 2020.

               
           
               
                   

In his second stint in Turkey, he managed only a goal and an assist in 10 league games and this stint in Turkey wasn’t as successful as his first.

               
           
               
                   

In his first stint with Galatasaray, the forward scored 14 goals in 31 league games and another two goals in the Turkish Cup as Gala won the league and cup double.
