Officials of Osun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare have rescued a three week old baby girl abandoned in Oke-Iro Street in Ilesha.
According to a statement on Wednesday by a Director, Osun State Ministry of Information, Mr Dapo Ajayi, said that the baby, wrapped in white shawl, was abandoned in a quiet part of the street.
She therefore called on parents, especially mothers to desist from abandoning their babies.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kolawole, said the case has been reported to the police and urged members of the public who know the whereabouts of the parents to furnish the ministry of the police with information.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Adetoun Adegboyega, restated the commitment of the Rauf Aregbesola administration to protecting the citizenry. “Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration is committed to protecting lives and property. The people of Osun can see the various developmental initiatives the government has taken.

“We implore our people to support the progressive initiatives of the government," she said.
