The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has denied the rumour making the rounds that the strike action has been called off.

The union said it is not backing down on its resolve to continue with its 5-week old strike.

The lecturers’ union from the south west zone dissociated itself from the rumour making the round that the strike has been suspended.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has assured Nigerian students in public universities that the efforts of the government at resolving the strike action embarked upon by university lecturers will soon materialise.

Maku said that ongoing negotiations between ASUU and the minister of labour and productivity, Emeka Wogu will soon be concluded.

He further explained that the government is as worried as many concerned Nigerians over the strike action. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/07/31/asuu-strike-to-continue/
