Newspaper Board / Broda Shaggi breaks silence months after ‘gunshot’ incident
« Last post by flukky-1 on August 08, 2026, 01:00:09 pm »Broda Shaggi breaks silence months after ‘gunshot’ incident
Samuel Perry, the comic actor better known as Broda Shaggi,
has broken his silence months after he was hospitalised after allegedly being
shot while filming.
In March, the skit maker was filming around the Sango Ota
bridge in Ogun State when he was reportedly shot in the leg.
He was initially rushed to a hospital in the Alakuko area of
Lagos before being transferred to another facility in the Government
Residential Area (GRA) of Ikeja.
After months of silence, Shaggi penned an emotional message
on his WhatsApp channel thanking his supporters for their “patience and
loyalty” throughout his absence.
He admitted he has been unable to engage with fans the way
he would have liked but said their continued support had given him strength
during what appears to have been a “difficult period”.
The skit maker also promised to share his story soon and
hinted at his comeback.
“To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing
love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you. I don’t think
y’all truly understand how much that means to me. Even when I haven’t been able
to show up the way I wanted to, knowing that y’all are still here has meant
more than I can put into words,” he wrote.
“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I
can’t. Not yet. Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped
thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all
again. I’m hoping that day comes soon
“And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better,
stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time. Until then, please know
this from the bottom of my heart. I LOOOOOOOOR Y’ALL SOOOO MUCH. Thank you for
staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here.”

Newspaper Board / Again, Trump signs new executive orders to restrict birthright citizenship
« Last post by flukky-1 on August 08, 2026, 01:00:09 pm »Again, Trump signs new executive orders to restrict birthright citizenship
US President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders in
a second attempt to scale back American birthright citizenship.
The move comes weeks after the Supreme Court shot down his
previous attempt to eliminate the right.
The executive orders, signed on Thursday, include one that
expands the existing definitions of non-citizens whose children are not
eligible for birthright citizenship while the second order bans what the Trump
administration calls “birth tourism” — the practice of pregnant mothers going
to the US using non-immigrant visas to give birth so that their babies will be
citizens.
The first order restricts birthright citizenship for
children born in the US even to legal foreign residents, including diplomats
and employees of international organisations.
The order could also affect people born in US territories,
should congress enact a proposed law to end automatic citizenship there.
Birthright citizenship for people born in US territories such as Puerto Rico is
codified by federal statute.
Ending birth tourism has long been a priority of the Trump
administration since the president came into power last January. Though the US
has repeatedly issued warnings against the practice, the second executive order
attempts to legalise the ban.
Birth tourism, according to the White House, is also any
effort by any foreign national to facilitate the entry of another foreigner
into the US for the purpose of giving birth on American soil.
The executive order empowers the Secretary of State to
enforce actions that prevent birth tourism, including a permanent entry ban for
erring foreigners.
“This should have happened years ago, but we’re taking care
of it now,” Trump said.
On June 30, the US Supreme Court struck down Trump’s
previous executive order seeking to limit birthright citizenship.
In a 6-3 ruling, the court held that the US Constitution
guarantees citizenship at birth to children born in the country, including
those whose parents are undocumented immigrants or are residing in the United
States on a temporary basis.
Trump said the judges whom he appointed but who voted against him
were “stup!d people”, and on Thursday, added that the court’s ruling was a
“very unfortunate decision”.
The president’s new orders are likely to face fresh legal
challenges.
