The Norm continues in Plateau, Another 13 killed Barkin Ladi LGA

In what has become a routine in Plateau State, another 13 persons were Thursday confirmed killed in a fresh attack by unidentified gunmen in Rapyem village, Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The interim Administrator of the local government, Mr. Habila Dung, while confirming the killings, said it was sad and barbaric.

He said: “The attack took place around 1a.m. early yesterday morning  and 13 persons  were killed in their sleep.”

Dung also said those killed were nine children, two women, and two men, while  five persons were injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Also confirming the attack in Jos, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Felicia Anslem, said: “There was an attack last night at Fan district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Areaof the state, and the police is working to get the casualty figure.”
She added that calm had since returned to the area.

In another development, the House of Representatives yesterday appealed to the Defence Headquarters to deploy more troops and arsenals to the North-eastern part of the country where the wave of insurgency masterminded by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has been on the increase in recent days.

The House also called on President Goodluck Jonathan; the Senate President, David Mark and House Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, to visit troops operating in the troubled areas as a means of boosting their morale.
