Inter Milan have called off their pursuit of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman after failed negotiations with Atalanta, with the Serie A club set to inform the player’s representatives within 24 hours, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The breakdown follows two weeks of stalled talks, with Atalanta holding firm on their valuation for the 26-year-old star.Inter’s hopes of signing Lookman, who shone for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with three goals and helped Atalanta in domestic and European competitions since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022, were dashed as no agreement was reached. Club sources confirmed the deal was unrelated to Roma’s Nicola Zalewski’s potential move to Atalanta, quashing earlier rumors.With the transfer window nearing its close, Inter, who saw Lookman as a versatile attacking option, will now shift focus to other targets to strengthen their squad.
